Our History


Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association exist since 2012 and as a Non-Government Organization firmly intends to stand as a strong civil society member that participate and concretely contribute in the sustainable development of Rodrigues Island.

Through the commitment and engagement of Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association is working towards the promotion and enabling of sustainable development through all relevant sectors ranging from bio-farming & agro-industry, sustainable tourism, sustainable fishing industry, natural resources management, renewable energy, social sustainability (human & community capacity), education, research, Green Business among others that align with the sustainable development requirements for Rodrigues.

    Marie Brenda Clair

    President of the Ter Mer Rodriguez Association

    She was the Secretary of Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association from 2012 to 2022 and in August she was elected president of the Association. She was assistant manager on the following Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association projects:

  • Empowerment of Off-Lagoon Fishers of Rodrigues in 2019 funded by GEF-SGP
  • Community-based Participatory Surveillance: Seasonal Octopus Fishery Closure in Rodrigues in 2014 funded by Smart Fish/Indian Ocean Commission
  • Co-Construction and Realization of Tools for Measuring Carbon Sequestration in Soils in Rodrigues and Madagascar as part of the IRD SeqCOI Project in 2021
  • She was also communication officer on the project Improving of Conservation Biodiversity Value of the Gombrani Islet (A CEPF-funded Initiative) in 2018. She is an employee of the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council since 2014 as Research Assistant.





  • Ravina Joseph Jean Maurice

    Marine and Coastal Resources Management Professional

    Maurice is a Marine and Coastal Resources Management Professional with a wealth of knowledge and experience in environmental environmental management. He was appointed by the Rodrigues Regional Assembly (RRA) as National Coral Reef Focal Point for Rodrigues under the ISLANDS Project/IOC from 2012 to 2014. He Founded Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association in 2012 and has acted as President up to July 2021. He is the Scientific Advisor and a Consultant of the only local Environment Consultancy firm in Rodrigues (Marine Analytics & Research Ltd). He was appointed by the RRA as the Chairman of the largest MPA (SEMPA) in the Rep. of Mauritius. He is an excellent team player, negotiator, strategist and has managed a wide spectrum of environmental projects and initiatives in Rodrigues. He firmly believes in people and talents, and a right balance between people and nature. He is since 2015 enrolled as P.hD. Candidate in Public Policy and Administration (Walden University, USA) aiming to help better shape biodiversity governance in Rodrigues Island. He was the Lead Consultant for the development of the Vision Document for Improving Biodiversity of the largest calcarenite Gombrani Islet of Rodrigues under the Critical Ecosystem partnership Fund (CEPF). He is currently leading and coordinating the development of strategic Sustainable Development initiatives/programs as part of Ter-Mer Sustainable Development mission through a Ter-Mer Rodriguez-Living Lab Federations partnership.






    Marie Lourdes Raphael Robertson

    Research Scientist

    Marie Lourdes Raphael Robertson is an Influential and highly accomplished environmental research scientist with 10+ years of comprehensive experience in promoting environmental conservation, awareness, and advocacy within the community. She possesses strategic leadership and world-class work ethic in negotiating and managing projects, grant applications, and campaigns ensuring adherence to environmental legislation and policies. Vision and value-oriented professional equipped with exceptional interpersonal skills, strong conflict resolution capabilities, and a keen sense of responsibility and dependability. Throughout her career, Marie Lourdes’ key. Accomplishments include the coordination and collaboration of capacity building projects involving local entrepreneurs and the promotion of green business/green economy. Moreover, Marie Lourdes actively conducts research in the waste management and community participation sector. The identification of viable green businesses for Rodrigues Island and the development of training and mentorship sessions for new and existing entrepreneurs are some of her passions. Through her interests in green living, Marie Lourdes discovered a new passion in natural skincare formulation whereby environmental degradation through cosmetics can be reduced.

    Research Assistant

    Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC)

    Motivated and diligent young professional with excellent work ethics and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated remarkable communication skills and the ability to lead in the roles of freelance intern, private tutor, and research assistant. An effective team player capable of building strong relationships with experience in administration-related work. Developed the ability to adapt to a changing environment through study abroad experience and community engagement. Enthusiastic to learn and committed to make a positive impact by bringing my contribution to the sustainable development of Rodrigues.

    Marie Justine Elsie Perrine

    Trainee Engineer

    Rodrigues Public Utilities Corporation(RPUC)

    30 year old Rodriguan lady, who complete her BSC in Chemical and enviromental engineering at the Univesity of Mauritius. She did her end of year thesis on the studies of extract of castor oil for Rodrigues. She looks forward to get registered as a professional engineer at the Counicl of Registered Professional Engineer of Mauritius. Currently, she is working on the treatment of waste water to improve the water sector of the island. Secretary of Ter Mer Rodriguez Association and has collobarated with many partners both locally and internationally. She works toward the development of a sustainable and ecologic rodrigues island and looks forward to opportunities to work in other country to further her knowledge in new technologies.

    Ann Jelissa Legentil

    Member of Ter Mer Association

    Meet Jelissa, holder of a Bachelor Degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Mandela Washington Fellow, she is deeply committed to sustainable development and civic engagement. With a degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Jelissa has made a significant impact as a member of the Ter-Mer Rodriguez Association for over five years. In her role, Jelissa spearheaded key initiatives, playing a pivotal role in the success of the Greening Businesses Project and the Gombrani Islet Restoration Action Plan Project. Her contributions showcase her dedication to creating tangible, positive change within the association. A Mandela Washington Fellow, Jelissa brings academic excellence and a passion for leadership and community development. She stands out not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her unwavering commitment to civic engagement.
